Ins & Outs | Brattan returns

Ufuk Talay and Ante Juric have confirmed their squads for this weekend’s clashes at home against Brisbane Roar and Western United respectively.

Men’s

Ufuk Talay will welcome Luke Brattan back into the fold for the visit of Brisbane Roar on Sunday afternoon after he missed the Sydney Derby due to suspension.

He will take the captains armband from Rhyan Grant who wore it in his abscence.

Aaron Gurd is working his way back from his leg fracture and is expected to be available for selection in early April as well as Wataru Kamijo who had a stress fracture in his back.

Jack Rodwell was aiming to be back for this match but has come down with a batch of illness and will miss out this week.

As for two of the younger members of our squad, Gus Hoefsloot will be sidelined for up to 4-5 months with a bucket handle meniscus tear which he picked up in training two weeks ago. He joins Joe Lacey on the unavailable list who is recovering from syndesmosis (high ankle strain).

Women’s

Once again, Ante Juric has been hard hit by the Young Matildas with six of his players currently with their country in Uzbekistan as part of the AFC U20s Women’s Asian Cup.

Thankfully they have a fit squad on the injury front with Lucy Johnson and Shea Connors getting their first minutes of 2024 last weekend with only long term injuries remaining to Nat Tobin and Fiona Worts who are both progressing well.

Teigan Collister has made her return from her foot injury and is included in the extended squad once again.
