Inaugural Sydney FC Girls Schools Cup a huge success

The first ever Sydney FC Girls High Schools Cup took place last week as part of our Female Football Week celebration.

More than 160 players hit the pitches at Sky Park to compete for the Nat Tobin and Cortnee Vine cups.

Eleven schools from across Sydney took part with 17 teams competing in a 7-a-side competition, split across two age groups, Years 7 & 8 and Years 9 & 10.

The action was intense throughout the whole day’s play and each team got at least 3 matches in the group stages.

The top two teams progressed through to the final of each age group where the match was so tight that only one goal was scored across both games.

Congratulations to Central Coast Sports College who took out the Nat Tobin Cup (Year 7 & 8) on penalties against William Clarke College after a 0-0 scoreline at the end of regulation.

Matraville Sports High won the Cortnee Vine Cup (Year 9 & 10) with a 1-0 victory over Domremy College Five Dock in the older age group final.

Well done to all competitors on a great event and the amazing sportsmanship shown throughout.
