Check out which of your Sky Blue stars made the Hyundai A-League Team of the Week for Round 9.
Another weekend of cracking goals, comebacks and eye-catching individual displays. Did aleague.com.au get the Team of the Week right for Round 9?
TEAM OF THE ROUND
Keeper
Dean Bouzanis (City)
A last-minute call-up, City could have been blown away against the Jets if not for his vital early saves, including a superb double stop.
DEFENDERS
Daniel Bowles (Roar)
Didn’t miss a beat in his first appearance back from a knee reconstruction and could be set for an extended run in defence.
Jake McGing (Mariners)
Proved he’s truly found his feet at right-back with relentless overlapping and consistently good delivery at Central Coast Stadium.
Alex Grant (Glory)
Aggressive in the challenge and not afraid to impose himself, the defender was exceptional in Gosford and deserved a clean sheet for his efforts.
Rhys Williams (Victory)
Bossed Phoenix all day with controlled aggression and helped lead the Big V’s superb 3-2 comeback win.
MIDFIELD
Josh Brillante (Sydney FC)
Initiated the winner with a lovely ball out wide and held things together when Sydney were under the pump.
Daniel De Silva (Mariners)
De Silva’s masterful construction of Central Coast’s lone goal against Perth, which he began by winning possession in his own half, stands alone as enough reason for inclusion.
Strikers
Eric Bautheac (Roar)
Roar’s key creative weapon in the win over Wanderers, the French winger made Massimo Maccarone’s opener possible with a smart header.
Leroy George (Victory)
What a signing he’s been. Was a constant threat to Phoenix on Sunday and despite one missed sitter, contributed massively to Victory’s stirring 3-2 comeback win.
Andrija Kaluderovic (Phoenix)
Two outstanding headed goals in quick succession – can’t ask for more than that. Just a pity Phoenix couldn’t hold on against a rampant Victory.
Besart Berisha (Victory)
Class. Absolute class. An early goal cancelled out by the VAR didn’t put off the great man. Bagged Victory’s first with a poacher’s effort, got himself involved in the second (an OG) and laid on a classy assist for Troisi to win it 3-2.
MANAGER OF THE ROUND
Kevin Muscat (Victory)
Two nil down at half-time, Musky appeared calm and in control on the dressing room cam. Clearly his words resonated as the Big V fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 in Wellington.
