Sydney FC Head Coach Frank Farina believes his squad will have no issues carrying over their form from their amazing 3-1 Sydney Derby victory as they prepare to face table toppers Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium on Saturday (kick off 7:30pm).
The Sky Blues come into Friday-s match having scored exactly two goals in each of their last three home games against the Roar however Farina knows his squad face a tough test, even with their boost in morale from their victory in the Derby.
“The games keep coming, the same pressure is on each one for all clubs, us as well,” Farina said.
“A win like that [against the Wanderers] in those circumstances in that atmosphere is always morale boosting and confidence boosting.
“Friday is a huge game for us and hopefully we can get a similar result.”
Farina-s men have five games to solidify their position in the top six, and with three of those games being played at home Farina said he had no qualms about whether his squad would be prepared or not for the coming weeks.
“The players, the team, realise the importance of these last five games coming in to the finals,” Farina said.
“We-ve got three of those at home and this is the first of those. They know what-s at stake and hopefully again they-ll be up for it.
“I-ve got no issues that they-ll be anything but ready.”
With the inherent pressure that comes with a fight for the finals series, Farina feels that his team can use that pressure to their advantage, like they have done previously, and emerge victorious against the side that have twice this season defeated the Sky Blues.
“They-ve certainly had the wood on us this year,” said Farina.
“They-re a good side when they-re on song but I think we-ve improved gradually and with the pressure and the importance of the game, there-s no real pressure for them they-re sitting comfortably at the top, I-m hoping that it tends to bring the best out of us.
“We don-t have many runs on the board with them this year so we-ll be getting out there with the sole idea of trying to win the game.”
