Sydney FC Westfield W-League stars Amy Harrison and Emily Sonnett are raring to go in Saturday’s #SydneyDerby at ANZ Stadium (kick off 5pm).
The Derby comes at the perfect time for Ante Juric’s side, with the team coming off the back of consecutive wins, and Sky Blue and Westfield Matildas star Amy Harrison is understandably excited for the game at ANZ stadium given her team’s recent rich vein of form.
“Obviously we’ve had derbies before but to have a double header derby makes everyone at the club so excited, which is especially true for the girls being curtain raiser,” Harrison said.
“To get our first win of the season against Melbourne City was very important and to back it up against the Victory on the weekend was a big confidence booster for the girls.”
USA International Emily Sonnett is eager to take to the field for her first ever Sydney Derby, and is hopeful that her American compatriot and new Sydney FC signing Aubrey Bledsoe can join her in the endeavour.
“I’ve known Aubrey for a long time now, she’s a quality player, a very solid goalkeeper who wants to master her craft so I think getting her over here to a quality club in Sydney FC is a great move for her and we’re happy to have her,” Sonnett said.
“I’m absolutely looking forward to the derby and definitely having the men play after I think it’s going to be very cool.”
Don’t miss the blockbuster Sydney Derby Double Header at ANZ Stadium on December 9. The Westfield W-League squad kick off at 5pm followed by the men of the Hyundai A-League at 7:50 PM.
