All set for his latest Socceroos exploits in Qatar, as FIFA World Cup qualifying heats up, we caught up with Rhyan Grant to get his thoughts on his latest call up, the camp in Doha and why he’ll be staying overseas for a little longer than others.

Congrats on the call up, how does it feel to be selected again?
It’s always an honour to be selected for the national team, but especially in these strange times because there’s a lot more factors at play. I’m grateful I was able to travel and be a part of it all.
You’re becoming a mainstay of the squad, do you feel like a part of the furniture now?
Nah definitely not, I do feel more comfortable within the team though. But football can change quickly so every time I get a chance to be involved with the Socceroos I don’t take it for granted.
What are you expecting from this camp and qualifiers?
Obviously it’s a new challenge now which will be difficult but I’m expecting the team to perform well and continue the form from the past few months.
Is it disappointing not to be able to play at home?
Yeah it is, it would have been awesome to play at home and in front of aussie fans but it’s just not possible at the moment so we just have to adapt to the new situation
You’re staying over there for an extended period of time before returning, will you be right for the start of the season?
Yeah it seems I might be away for an extended period but obviously I’m in good hands here and feel like I’ll be ready to go come the start of the season.
I’ve had a good month training with the boys already so I think that will put me in good stead.
What would it mean to progress in qualification and reach the World Cup?
It would be unbelievable, that’s the ultimate goal, so to achieve that and be involved would be freakish.
