Sydney FC’s match against the Gold Coast Premier League All Stars in the Gold Coast Cabs Challenge at Pizzey Park on Thursday has been cancelled.
The Sky Blues are four days into a week-long training camp on the Gold Coast, as Head Coach Graham Arnold looks to get his squad into peak shape for the Hyundai A-League 2015/16 season.
However Football Federation Australia wouldn’t sanction the game as the proposed venue didn’t meet one of the criteria categories for sanctioned friendlies.
“We have really enjoyed the hospitality of the football community of the Gold Coast and developed lasting connections, in particular with the people at Football Gold Coast,” said Head Coach Graham Arnold.
“We look forward to continuing these relationships when members of the Gold Coast Select XI will be invited to join Sydney FC for training this Friday.”
The Sydney FC squad is due to return to Sydney on Saturday, 16 August to continue pre-season preparations.
