Girdwood-Reich given one match suspension

Jake Girdwood-Reich has been handed a one match suspension following his red card against Perth Glory.

The 19 year old was initially given a yellow card but upon VAR review his card was upgraded to red and will miss Sunday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Match Review Panel looked at the incident and determined that Girdwood-Reich committed the offence of “Denying the opposing team and obvious goal scoring opportunity, as prescribed in Law 12 of the Game”.

The minimum sanction of the offence is one game, being the Mandatory Match Suspension.

The Match Review Panel confirmed that Girdwood-Reich will serve a suspension of one match, being the Mandatory Match Suspension and will be available for the next match against the Western Sydney Wanderers on the 13th of April.

However, as Girdwood-Reich has been selected in the Olyroos squad for the AFC U23 Asian Cup, he will return once Australia have exited the competition.
