Each Friday we’re asking the important questions as we profile Sydney FC’s Team of the Decade and former players. Find out who their best mate was, what was their most memorable away trip and plenty more!
How did it feel to be named in Sydney FC’s Team of the Decade?
It was a great honour just to be associated with the Sydney FC Team of the Decade, let along being named in it and it brought back some wonderful memories on what we achieved as a group and myself as an individual. It was a great period.
Who is your all-time favourite player in your position?
I’d have to say Franco Baresi. I just grew up and my first love for the game was watching Milan play on Sunday morning.
Funniest Sydney FC memory?
Brosquey’s hydration testing. That’s as much as you are getting!
Best mate(s) at the club?
JA (John Aloisi) – we joined the club around about the same time and just got on from there.
Who do you still keep in touch with?
I still keep in touch with a number of them in my role at the PFA.
Best away game memory/story?
In one particular game in Wellington the wind was so bad that the ball kept coming back at us from Clint Bolton’s goal-kicks, so we were just happy for him to find touch to take the pressure off.
Smartest team mate?
My fellow Team of the Decade member Karol Kisel was a smart guy.
Favourite backroom staff member?
Joey Niutta – he left no stone unturned.
