Four of Sydney FC’s 2020 Westfield W-League Premiers have been named in an extended 26-player domestic-based squad for the second Women’s Talent Identification Camp to be held in Sydney from 4 – 7 May 2021.
Rachel Lowe, Remy Siemsen, Clare Wheeler and Jada Whyman will all be afforded the opportunity to impress in training under Melissa Andreatta, as Westfield Matildas Head Coach Tony Gustavsson works towards selecting the final 18-player Matildas squad for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Women’s Football Tournament.
With the Matildas earlier this month drawn in Group G for the Olympic Games, attention has shifted to focused preparations for the tournament.
“I can’t wait to get into camp and work towards what’s been a goal of mine for some time now,” Sydney FC star Remy Siemsen said.
“It would be a dream to represent Australia at an Olympic Games and this Talent ID camp is the perfect opportunity to show what I can bring to the national team, and stake a claim for a spot in Tokyo.”
Matildas Assistant Coach Melissa Andreatta said the camp would provide the perfect opportunity for local talent to showcase their talents.
“This Women’s Talent ID Camp is part of raft of initiatives Football Australia have put into effect to create high performance environments to allow for excellence to shine,” Andreatta said.
The camp will be conducted under strict protocols as established by Football Australia.
