Five Sydney FC players off to represent their nation

Five of Ufuk Talay’s side have left Sydney FC camp as they head off to international duty for their nation.

Alex Grant and Anthony Caceres have been named in the Socceroos squad for two vital qualifiers in their quest to reach the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

The Green and Gold will take on Indonesia at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday before flying to the Northern Hemisphere when they face off against China.

Alex Grant is named in his first Socceroos squad and it comes after a brilliant few weeks for Sydney FC including progression into the last four in the AFC Champions League Two.

Anthony Caceres has become a mainstay with the national team now having never previously been selected before the November window last year.

In exciting news, Josh Sotirio has also been named in the New Caledonian side as they are two matches away from a place at the FIFA World Cup.

The small nation topped their group in the 2nd Round of OFC qualification and now take on Tahiti in a Semi Final in Wellington this week, with the winner of that match playing the winner of New Zealand & Fiji for a direct entry to the World Cup.

Best of luck to all three Sky Blues in action.
