Fitness will be the key to beating the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday evening, according to Sydney FC Head Coach Frank Farina.
The former Socceroos boss believes matching the energy and running levels of the Asian Champions League contenders, will make the difference between winning and losing at Allianz Stadium.
“This year they-ve [Mariners] been excellent. They are a good side, very mobile and they play the counter attacking game very well. They are super fit and they deserve to be where they are.
“Do we take anything out of the game last time? [1-0 win on December 27th]?
“The knowledge that if we compete physically, and I mean physically in the terms of running, not kicking or tackling, then we can beat them.”
And Farina is still confident the Sky Blues will be in the Finals.
“We-ve got three home games against Central Coast, Melbourne Victory and the Wanderers is a home game for me even though it-s played on their ground.
“For us to make the six we-re going to have to really earn it and I think the players realise that.”
