Sydney FC coach Frank Farina has given the Sky Blues- tour of Italy the thumbs up after four matches and a solid two week block of pre season training in Jesolo.

Two weeks after arriving in northern Italy, Sydney FC has played four matches against Serie B and Serie C opposition for three wins and a 3-2 loss to Padova, netting 11 goals along the way.

The Sky Blues made it a hat trick of victories with a 1-0 win over A.S. Cittadella yesterday and Farina admitted he was happy with the victories but more impressed with the preparation the games and training sessions in Italy are giving his charges ahead of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League.

“It-s going well,” Farina said. “Four games is a lot, particularly when you are playing one game one day and another the day after but we have progressed both in the way we want to play and the players in general are looking sharp so I-m pretty pleased with the way we-re going at the moment.

“We-ve trained a lot. I think we-re up to 56 sessions (including work back in Australia) and we-re on track for where we want to be but the games are very important and they-ve served a purpose for us at this stage.

“We say that results don-t count but every professional sportsman or footballer loves to win so to be winning and getting out of it (the matches in Italy) what we want is even better.”

The Sydney FC playing squad was split in two this morning with the players who took part in the 1-0 win over Cittadella undergoing recovery while the rest of the squad worked hard in the 80 minute session.

Sydney FC will train again this afternoon and tomorrow (Friday) before taking on Venezia in Jesolo on Saturday evening at 6pm (2am Sunday Sydney time).
