Sydney FC Westfield W-League star Lindsay Agnew has promised a very different Sky Blues’ side will take to the field for Saturday’s Semi-Final #BigBlue away at Epping Stadium (kick off 2pm AEDT).
Going down to Melbourne in the final round of the season two weeks ago, Agnew believes the Sky Blues have rectified their mistakes from that clash and will be out for redemption with a place in the Grand Final on the line.
“Credit to Melbourne they had a great game last time we played them and we struggled to find our rhythm,” Agnew said.
“I think you’re going to see a totally different side come the weekend. I think there’s an extra added pressure of being a Semi-Final, these last couple of weeks of training have been intense, we’re definitely ready to go over and redeem ourselves.
“We’ve been working on a lot of our movement off the ball and finding our spaces that we can play into.
“I think the last game a lot of us struggled to connect our passes, going into the next game that’s something we’ll definitely be better at.
“We wanted to bring the Semi home and play in front of our fans again but I think going away, I think we’re excited to go there.
“I think it’ll be good to go back there to Melbourne and redeem ourselves. We’re ready to go and prove ourselves again.”
Agnew revealed one her reasons for joining the Sky Blues was to play in games like these, as she set her sights on helping the Sky Blues’ achieve unprecedented back-to-back Grand Final wins.
“It’s so exciting, that’s one reason I wanted to come here, because this team is a playoff team and I want to defend the Championship from last year,” she said.
“I’m glad to be a part of the team and able to come and help them hopefully bring home that silverware.
“I was prepared, I wanted to come here and work hard. I’m just thankful I was able to come in and break into the starting lineup straight away.
“The club has been super welcoming, all the girls and the staff, it’s been super professional and I’ve loved my time here so far.”
