Sydney FC striker Alessandro Del Piero believes the Sky Blues can take lessons from their previous encounters with Melbourne Victory this season as they head into their final home game at Allianz Stadium this Saturday night (kick off 7.45pm).
The Italian World Cup winner is wary of the opposition-s threat in the final third and is hopeful his team can take confidence out of last week-s win over the Central Coast Mariners.
“We know Victory is a good team up front, but we have to consider the balance [of the game],” he said.
“Our starting point has to be different, it has to be to concede no goals and to score a lot.
“That has to be our mentality, but we know that it-s a very hard game.
“A few weeks ago they beat us 3-1 and we got two red cards. If we remember that game it can help us.”
Sydney-s concentration and desire against the Mariners last weekend were some of the biggest factors in the 2-0 win, and Del Piero realises the same is required again.
“The lesson is to stay concentrated 100% from the start to the end,” he continued.
“We have to think that every single situation and moment of the game is the most important one in the game. That is the first step for us to play good.”
