Sydney FC-s new coach Ian Crook began his first full day in the job by holding a technical meeting with his football and medical staff.
The last 48 hours have been a busy time for the veteran of over 450 English top flight games, but he-s enjoyed it.
“It-s been hectic but all good, one thing to another,” said Crook. “I-ve had messages that I-m really grateful for. It-s been really positive and I-d like to thank everybody for all of the well-wishes.”
“I-m just looking forward to it now. Glad to be out of the way of the spotlight so I can get down to doing the important stuff which is down on the park.”
Crook will hold his first training session with the players on Wednesday, to begin a new era for the Sky Blue club.
“In the end it came down to being a gut feeling that it [taking the job] was the right thing to do.
“I-ve really enjoyed what I-ve done [Sydney FCl Youth Coach] but it-s nice to be able to prepare a team to actually win, where in the previous 18 months it-s really been about preparing to develop.”
Crook takes charge amid press reports he is set to bring back the “bling” tag created during his time as assistant coach to Pierre Littbarski, during the 2005/06 Championship winning season.
“For me it-s just about producing good football and winning, if the press want to say it-s bling then great.”
