Courtney-Perkins backs team to get the result

Jordan chats to the press prior to the Mariners clash

Jordan Courtney-Perkins has claimed that with the experience in the squad and past results against the Mariners, his side are capable of heading to Gosford and getting a result.

They are only one match away from the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final and the left back/winger believes that should they get there, it will be just reward for their hard work this season.

“It’s been a long year and there has been a lot going on at the club and it was everyone’s goal at the start of the season and I think that we are a good enough team to play in the Grand Final.

Jordan Courtney-Perkins celebrates his opener against Perth

“He [Talay] has introduced a really exciting style of football and all the boys have really bought into it and you can see when we put it together, how it comes off,” Courtney-Perkins added.

“With the crowd against us and all the talk about the Mariners treble, I think that is a lot of motivation for us to stop them in their tracks and have some success ourselves.”

The team must leave it all out there, trailing by just one goal after being reduced to nine men in the first leg.

All they need is one goal to bring the aggregate score level and force extra time with the Away Goals tiebreaker NOT IN PLAY.

There is no room for excuses and Courtney-Perkins doesn’t want to hear any of them on Saturday night.

“There’s no excuses once you’re out there and once the game is over.

“We have ran into a few hardships and issues but that is no reason for us to sit and say that it isn’t fair,” he added.

“We definitely have the mentality of backs against the wall now being one goal down but that’s not going to change how we think going into the game and we are going to give it our all.”
