Sydney FC’s players are hoping they’ll have a mo-ment to remember against Gold Coast United in Sunday’s 5pm kick off at the Sydney Football Stadium.
The team began their 2011 Movember Campaign clean shaven today with a message to the fans – Show Us Your Mos.
All of the first team squad are taking part in the initiative which raises awareness of men-s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression – and they-re hoping fans will support them by donating money to their online appeal at www.movember.com.au or by growing their own mos and putting them on display at Sunday-s game.
Defender Nathan Sherlock is hoping fans will get involved.
“It-s a great cause and a lot of my family and friends are getting involved.
“Seeing the fans will mean a big push for us as well. Obviously for a lot of us this is our first time doing it and to see the fans do it as well would be a great boost.
“I-ve seen some pretty good ones on TV but any kind of facial hair to support the cause is great.”
Midfielder Shannon Cole is also hoping fans will give money to their cause or show their mos at the Gold Coast game.
“To any fans out there listening, get involved in Movember. We want to see you getting involved at the ground especially, don-t be shy, put your moustaches on show.
“It is a good cause and we-re willing to embarrass ourselves in the public eye for that so keep your eye out for us.
“It should be good to see what we come up with but I don-t think the fans should be getting too excited about the potential facial hair (that we grow).”
