A host of celebrities are limbering up for their moment in the football spotlight when they take to the Allianz Stadium field this weekend.

The Unicef celebrity match will take place before Sydney FC-s first home game of the season this Saturday with a number of famous faces taking part.

“It-s been a while since I-ve played at the Allianz Stadium,” said Fox Sports pundit Robbie Slater, “so looking forward to it.”

“It-s a massive day for Sydney FC and UNICEF. We-re expecting a big crowd for Alessandro Del Piero-s home debut and of course for our celebrity charity game.”

The match pits Fox Sports stars like Mark “Bozza” Bosnich, Mel McLaughlin and Adam Peacock up against a celebrity Unicef team including Sydney FC W-League star Ellyse Perry, Wallabies World Cup winning captain Nick Farr-Jones, V8 Supercars driver Michael Caruso, TV Presenter Laura Dundovic and Sydney FC Chairman Scott Barlow.

“It-s a really important match, just to bring into the spot light what UNICEF do around the world so it-s a great cause,” continued Slater.

The game kicks off when gates open at 3:30pm and is expected to thrill the crowds.

“Bozza fancies himself as an outfield player, I don-t know why, but maybe we-ll get a bit of him in goal and a bit on the outfield as well,” said Robbie.

“It-s going to be a great day out for people to come along and have a laugh at the celebrities, and stick around for the main game which should be something really special.”
