Team Carney narrowly beat Team Brosque at the Sydney FC Foundation’s inaugural Golf Day.
Hosted at North Ryde Golf Club, 17 teams played in an Ambrose format alongside individual ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ competitions.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved for organising such a great day,” said Sydney FC legend David Carney.
“To finish of the day beating Brosquey and his team made it all the better.”
While Team Carney did beat Team Brosque, they weren’t the overall winners on the day. Event sponsor, Dynamic Learning Services took home first place, narrowly edging out another sponsor of the event, Sky Blue Stories Podcast.
Greg McCulloch, winning team captain and CEO of Dynamic Learning Services said “it was a great friendly day which was very well organised.
“I particularly enjoyed the insightful interviews with players and administrators and I look forward to defending out title next year!”
Jonathan Finger, captain of the Sky Blue Stories team said “everyone in our team had a great day out at North Ryde Golf Club for the Sydney FC Foundation Golf Day.
“Sky Blue Stories are extremely proud to be able to contribute to the Sydney FC Foundation,” he added.
Following play, those in attendance heard from Foundation Chair, Jenny Abood, on the Foundation’s plans for the next 12 months. This was followed by Sydney FC CEO, Adam Santo being joined by both Brosque and Carney for a Q&A on the upcoming season, the new stadium, and Sky Park.
Pleased to see so many of Sydney FC’s longer term partners present, Foundation Board Member, Michael Crismale said that the day “provided the perfect setting to introduce both old and new acquaintances to the workings of the Foundation.
“Not only did those present enjoy the pleasures of golf, but they were also able to mingle and socialise over a relaxed lunch,” he added.
On Brosque and Carney’s presence, Crismale felt the football insights shared by two legends of the game rounded the day out nicely.
Sydney FC Foundation Manager, Alex Reilly, added “I would like to thank North Ryde Golf Club for hosting our teams and lunch guests.
A big thank you must also go to our sponsors and entrants for supporting the Foundation’s first ever golf day.
“Together we raised substantial funds to support future programs that will be delivered across the Sydney FC footprint,” he added.
