Sydney FC Captain Alex Brosque sounded a warning to Adelaide United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic, saying he’d better be at his best if he wants to stop the Sky Blues from progressing to the Hyundai A-League Grand Final on Saturday night.
Galekovic was in inspired form as he denied the Sky Blues in their previous encounter however Brosque is confident that the scoreboard will shine positively on Sydney FC after 90 minutes in their semi-final at Allianz Stadium.
“He’s going to have to be at his best because the way we’ve been playing, particularly in the second half of the season, we’ve been having a lot of chances,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of shots on goals and singlehandedly he was the one that denied us last time so I think [he will have to be at the top of his game].
“Nothing has to change, just the result,” he continued.
“Even though on the scoreboard they’ve probably had us in the last couple of games, at no point did we feel that we were outplayed, dominated or that they were even the better team.
“Nothing changes, we’ll play the exact same way and I’m more confident this time around that we will get the result.”
Brosque said the squad were excited, not nervous, in the lead up to Saturday’s clash as he hopes to see Allianz Stadium full of Sky Blues fans on Saturday night.
“It’s not so much nervousness, but excitement,” Brosque said.
“It’s been 27 games, 27 rounds in the build up for this so the players, you can feel it around training, they’re excited and they’re looking forward to it.
“The match up is a good one, we’re looking forward to playing against Adelaide especially after the last match against them and I think we feel we owe them one. It would be good to sell out this great stadium and hopefully do that.
“We’ll have a full squad going into Saturday’s match which is great,” he continued.
“Even Antonis who has been struggling for a few months now, he’s looking good again and he’ll be a player that can definitely help in the latter stages of the game.
“Everyone will be fit, everyone will be ready, the excitement is there and we’re really looking forward to the game.”
