Sydney FC-s greatest ever goal scorer Alex Brosque will celebrate his 100th game in Sky Blue this Sunday when the reigning champions take on Perth Glory at Parramatta Stadium (3pm kick-off).
Brosque, 27, debuted for Sydney FC on Saturday 27 August 2006 and has since bagged 28 goals in 99 appearances and has been named Player of the Year on three out of the five seasons he has played for the club.
The milestone match came as somewhat of a surprise to Brosque who hopes he can cap off the special occasion with a crucial win.
“It-s always a good feeling and achievement when you bring up those milestones but I hope we get a positive result from the game on Sunday to cap it off,” Brosque said.
“I didn-t realise I was close to playing that many games for the club but when I found out it was a nice surprise.
“It-s important to get the points this weekend. We really need to use the psychological advantage that we got from beating Perth away last time and really take it to them. We need to start well and go on with it.”
A leading favourite with the clubs fans and a true club man, Brosque notes last season as his most memorable moment with the club.
“There have been ups and downs but last year would have to be the best moment,” Brosque said.
“From winning the Premiership on the last day of the season to going down to Melbourne to win the Championship was incredible so last year was by far the best moment for me.”
Brosque will be the fourth player to join an elite league of Sky Blue players to have notched 100 games for the club. He joins Steve Corica, Clint Bolton and Terry McFlynn.
