Brosque Loving Move To Leichhardt Oval

Sydney FC Captain Alex Brosque said he can’t wait to turn out at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday in the Sky Blues’ first home Hyundai A-League game there for 2018/19.

The Sky Blues have enjoyed success in the inner west in the past and Brosque said he’d be drawing on those past experiences heading into the afternoon encounter against the Central Coast Mariners (kick off 5pm AEDT).

“I’m very much looking forward to Leichhardt Oval,” Brosque said.

“It’s the next phase in our journey around Sydney, playing at different grounds. Playing at Jubilee was great, but moving to Leichhardt where we’ve had a lot of games in the past few years, it’s good to be heading out that way.

“I think we’ve had very good results there,” he continued.

“Most of the games have been in preseason, but the FFA Cup game there against Melbourne City was a big game and I think we can use that to motivate us moving forward for our first home match there this weekend.

“That was a good game, good result and we’ll be using the familiarity and winning there to get us over the line this week.”

Brosque labelled Leichhardt Oval the ‘perfect little stadium’ as he said he can’t wait to see the famous hill packed with a number of Sky Blue families.

“The ground is always nice, it’s a perfect little stadium,” stated Brosque.

“The crowd is going to be great, similar to the atmosphere that there’s been at Jubilee already. At Leichhardt, because of the hill and everything it’ll be great when the families are sitting up there.

“The noise that will be generated there will be great as well. The pitch is always very nice, it doesn’t get chewed up too much with the footy so it’ll be good for us.

“The crowds we’ve had there at Jubilee were big and even the ones that didn’t sell out were full of energy and full of noise and you can feel that. I think we’re enjoying playing at these types of stadiums.

“I hope for more of the same [from our last game against the Mariners]. The result on Friday was very disappointing, we need to bounce back in any way possible and I’m sure we’ll get the win.”

Sydney FC face the Central Coast Mariners at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday 17 February (kick off 5pm AEDT). Bring the whole family, make an afternoon of it and don’t forget to bring your football for Maccas’ Families on the Field post match!
