Playing in front of family and friends is a special occasion at the best of times, however Saturday’s clash in Brisbane takes on extra meaning for Luke Brattan with a milestone moment.
The Sky Blues’ midfielder has been one of the clubs most consistent performers in Season 2020/21, and Saturday’s encounter in his home state will bring up his 50th A-League game for Sydney FC.

Brattan spent his formative years in Brisbane, playing for the Roar before earning a move overseas ahead of his eventual return to the A-League, and the 31-year-old said he’s hopeful of celebrating his milestone moment with a win.
“It’s always special playing Brisbane away,” Brattan said.
“To be there in front of family and friends for my 50th [game] will be a good feeling and it would be great to get all three points.
“50 games for Sydney FC is a proud moment and hopefully there’s many more too come.
“I didn’t set myself any appearance goals [when I joined the club] but I want to make as many as possible.
“Winning the double last year was very memorable,” he continued when asked of his most memorable Sky Blue moments.
“I’ll remember last season as one of the best and one of my favourites of my career. To do what we did with the boys we have it was incredible.”
With second place and a home Semi-Final secured, Brattan stressed the importance of still securing three points on Saturday and carrying momentum into the Finals Series.
And while the Sky Blues are missing three players away with the Socceroos, the midfielder said the squad possesses more than enough depth to get the job done.
“It’s very important to get a win Saturday having finished second,” he said.
“Having a home Semi-Final is a huge advantage and a win on Saturday will keep our good form rolling over into the Finals Series.
“Obviously losing the three Socceroos is a huge loss, they’re big players but we have to quality within the squad to replace them,” he continued.
“I’m sure the players that come in will do a great job.”
