Sydney FC defender Pascal Bosschaart has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season after scans confirmed he required surgery on a heel injury.
Bosschaart will undergo surgery to remove a bone spur on his heel and repair a small tear in his achilles, which is not related to the achilles injury he sustained at the end of the 2011/12 season.
It was hoped the defender would be able to recover through an extensive management program but further scans and a specialists report have shown he requires surgery.
The 32-year-old will undergo a six month rehabilitation program.
“It-s definitely a blow for us but we will push on with the players who have been getting the job done in recent weeks,” said Sydney FC coach Frank Farina. “Pascal is an experienced player and we will miss that experience as we move towards the business end of the season.
“It is a shame he picked up the injury as he was looking good after such a long lay off from the injury he suffered last year.”
