After his brace against Western United, Sydney FC striker Adam Le Fondre is celebrating his 33rd birthday today back on top the Hyundai A-League Ladder.

The English-man was at his brilliant best in Geelong, helping the Sky Blues take out their fourth win on the trot as they jumped Melbourne City into first place.

Le Fondre, who now sits in second spot for the top goal-scorer award, says he knows what the club expects the players to achieve throughout the year.

“[On being back on top] Since I’ve been here and even before that they’ve always set the standard and we’re continuing that,” he said.

“We’re obviously happy with the way we’re playing at the moment, it was a great defensive performance yesterday which is important as well.

Both goals were set up by two amazing crosses from Alexander Baumjohann and the 33-year-old credits his attacking partnerships for helping the Sky Blues average over two goals per game.

“I’ve got great supportive players around me and that helps a lot,” Le Fondre said.

“It makes my job a lot easier having that sort of supply behind me, beside me with Kosta [Barbarouses] and [Anthony] Caceres who came into the team and played outstanding as well.

“[On Alex Baumjohann] It’s nice for him to set up the goals because I thought he was really impressive yesterday.

“Although, I think he’s more renowned for tackling at the moment,” he added.

The team returned to Sydney on Monday after back-to-back away wins but Le Fondre is focusing on spending time with family.

“I’m just looking forward to seeing my girls when I go home and spend the rest of the day with them.

“[When asked what the team did for his birthday] Nothing, they shook my hand in the morning and that’s about it,” he laughed.

Sydney FC return home to take on Brisbane Roar at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium this Saturday December 7th. (kick off 7:30pm AEDT).
