Best feeling ever – Caspers

Maddie Caspers returned to the Starting XI on Sunday afternoon for the first time in a month and experienced one of the best moments of her life.

The 16-year-old has set the league alight since joining Sydney FC midway through this season and she repaid the faith that Ante Juric put in her and netted a very important equaliser for the Sky Blues.

That equaliser, her first goal in the Liberty A-League, is a moment she isn’t going to be forgetting any time soon.

“It’s such an unreal feeling, scoring.

“Cortnee did such a good delivery and it was easy on my behalf but overall it was so amazing,” Caspers said.

“It was the best feeling ever.”

Being so young, Caspers had played with a maturity that is beyond her years and it is no surprise that the club’s attacking intent returned with the introduction of the 16-year-old again.

That is her fourth start out of a possible four and she continued to spray the balls around at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday afternoon and maintain her 76{1de664c85a80a4b173a2b8d3635d2f5867b42e304c78e4224f58bc71bfb3e6e7} pass success rate.

Her ability to settle in so quickly she put down to the environment that she is learning from day in, day out.

“The girls and Ante are so supportive. Everyone here is,” she said.

“The environment is just so good to be a part of, especially as a young player and I feel so welcome here.

“I’m so proud of everyone and winning that game is the best feeling ever.”

Maddie Caspers will be looking to continue her good form when her side travel to Melbourne Victory on Friday for the annual Australia Day clash at AAMI Park.
