The man who secured Sydney FC’s record breaking fifth A-League Championship by scoring the winning goal in the 2020 Grand Final, will have his famous mullet shaved in the name of charity.

“The hair-style seems to have garnered a lot of attention since I’ve had it, and now I’m thinking of getting rid of it, I wanted to do something for a worthy cause,” said Grant .
“The Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave campaign supports people living with blood cancer and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to crop it off, especially considering today is World Cancer Day.”
Grant, who is the Sky Blues longest serving player, will follow in the footsteps of team-mate Luke Brattan who took part in the campaign last year and raised $30,000 after his sister was diagnosed with blood cancer and his mum with breast cancer. Both are now thankfully cancer free.
“I don’t expect to raise as much money as Luke did, but it would be great to raise as much as I possibly can to help families facing blood cancer get the support they need through the Leukaemia Foundation.
“You only have to mention the words blood cancer and you find that more people, like Luke, have had a family member diagnosed with the disease or have been through it themselves.
“What Luke achieved last year was phenomenal and it is my inspiration for having a go this year.”
The Sky Blues’ full back is also offering the chance to start the shave to the fan who makes the largest donation.
“I’ve had the hair for almost three years and I’m a bit sick of it now, especially in this hot weather, so it’s definitely time for a change.
“It would be great if one of our Members were to donate and help me lose the mullet,” he said.
“I want to have a new cut by the time we play Brisbane Roar at home on February 20th.”
