Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has lauded the Sky Blues’ offensive capabilities ahead of Friday’s top of the table clash against Melbourne City at AAMI Park (kick off 7:50pm AEDT).
Addressing the media at the Sky Blues’ training base, Arnold spoke of the team’s excitement ahead of Friday’s game, where a win for his squad would see them leapfrog Melbourne City into the top position on the Hyundai A-League ladder.
“It’s a good game, a good challenge for both teams but we’re in fantastic form and we’ve always enjoyed going down to Melbourne as a group and we’re looking forward to the game at AAMI [Park],” Arnold said.
“Our start last week against Perth was very good and we will continue to do that. It’s up the players once they cross that white line that they’re switched on and ready for the game, and they will be on Friday night.
“Our performances have been very strong attacking-wise and we know that we will get that right on Friday night and we will execute.”
Arnold also lavished praise on Polish marquee Adrian Mierzejewski, who scored his first Hyundai A-League goal for the Sky Blues from the penalty spot against Perth Glory last Friday.
“Adrian is obviously a great signing for us, a great acquisition,” Arnold said.
“He can play in many different positions along the front-line and we know that he’s got a lot left in him.
“He’s still finding his feet and he’s also coming back from a hamstring injury but he’s in great shape and we expect him to get better and better as the season goes on.”
