Arnold Confident Of Delivering

Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold said he’s working no stop to please the Sky Blues supporters as he prepares to travel to face the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Tuesday (kick off 8pm).

Arnold said he relishes the challenge of the tough times and is confident his squad can claim three points and ascend the table starting against the Roar, who the Sky Blues are undefeated against in their previous two encounters.

“I’m a weird type of person because I like the tough times better than the good times,” he said.

“The good times are obviously a joy but I like the tough times more because it tests you and brings out the best in people and that’s what I’m trying to put through this dressing room.

“We had a great start to the season, we’re still sitting in a very good position, we’re not bottom of the league,” he continued.

“We’re in fifth spot, not even half way through the season. We started well, we’re in a bit of a dip at the moment and it’s all about how you come out of that dip.

“I have all the confidence in these boys that when we get out of it, and we will get out of it, that we’ll take off from there.

“That’s my job, that’s what I want to give to the supporters, they’re the best supporters in the league and they’re fantastically supportive of us, and I want to give them what they deserve and that’s my job to try and deliver that.”

While Arnold is confident he knows the defending Hyundai A-League Champions will be a stern challenge, as he confirmed the only absentee from the squad will be Terry Antonis away on Socceroos duty.

“Brisbane will be a tough proposition up there,” he said.

“It’s going to be a tough test against them and I’ve got enough faith in the quality in the dressing room that we’ll get the right result.

“Brosquey played last game so he’s fine, Janko is the only question mark and Terry Antonis is away with the Socceroos so it can’t be about what we’re missing it’s got to be about what we’ve got here.

“We’ve got some quality in the dressing room and the players that we’ve got fit and healthy have done a great job. I’m very positive, we had a couple of good meetings since the last game and I’m sure we can get better.”
