During the off-season Sydney FC are looking at the league in numbers as we highlight the statistics of some of our key players throughout our record breaking 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season.
After emerging as a future prospect during the 2013/14 season, Christopher Naumoff firmly established himself on the Hyundai A-League during the 2014/15 season with a number of impressive performances.
Earning starting berths on both the right and left hand side of an attacking trio, Naumoff made a total of 24 appearances for the Sky Blues, playing for 1138 minutes.
Utilising his pace and skills, Naumoff proved a tricky opponent as he won a total of 29 fouls while taking on his marker.
Attempting 249 passes, Naumoff completed 185 to finish the season with a passing accuracy of 74.3% while also holding a 50% success rate at attempted long passes.
Going forward Naumoff made 22 crosses from open play while creating 11 chances for his team mates, three of which eventuated in goals.
Naumoff caused plenty of headaches for opposition goalkeepers as he troubled them time and again, with the 19 year old seeing 10 of his 25 attempted shots on target.
After scoring his first ever Sydney FC goals in the Westfield FFA Cup, the Sutherland product notched his first Hyundai A-League effort against the Central Coast Mariners with a superb left foot volley from inside the area.
“It was a bit different [from my FFA Cup strikes],” he said of his first A-League effort.
“This one was more of a placement shot but then again a goal is a goal, it’s always helping your team and that’s a big positive.
“I’m just looking to keep improving myself as always and keep getting myself in that team as much as I can, and look to score and create more goals as well.”
One wasn’t enough for Naumoff and he doubled his Hyundai A-League tally in the semi-final against Adelaide United, rounding out the 4-1 victory with a well taken curling effort rifled into the top corner.
Naumoff will be part of the squad as Sydney FC take on Earlwood Wanderers FC in the Johnny Warren Community Challenge in their first pre-season match TOMORROW at Leichhardt Oval (kick off 7:30pm).
