Sydney FC-s community partnership with the Sydney Children-s Hospital has moved a step forward with the handover of a cheque for nearly $14,000 by the club.
The money was donated and raised during the Newcastle Jets match at the Allianz Stadium earlier this year.
“We-ve had an outstanding commencement to this partnership – it incorporates every aspect of our values – courage, inspiration, passion, excellence and family,” said Sydney FC-s General Manager of Community and Game Development, Stefan Kamasz.
“When you see what these young children here at the hospital are going through, it makes you realise our own problems aren-t as severe as we think they are!”
Sky Blues players have been paying regular visits to patients over the last six months and Sydney Childrens Hospital Foundation (SCHF) Chief Adam Check believes it-s having an effect.
“It-s been Sydney FC who have inspired some wonderful smiles and making the journey a little easier for some of our patients,” he said.
Jodie Mitchell, whose son Ben is currently a patient at the hospital, agrees the partnership is a good thing.
“If nobody put an interest into helping to raise money for hospitals their facilities wouldn-t be up to standard as they are.”
More hospital visits by the players, including the SCHF ambassador are planned over the next few months.
