Advisor – Harshane Kahagalle

Harshane advises a wide variety of clients, including large scale property developers, financial institutions, mining houses and government bodies, on securing necessary planning and development approvals, including approvals for major projects.

His expertise includes property development, planning, mining, local government, environmental and administrative law matters.

Harshane regularly represents clients in litigation matters in the Land and Environment Court of NSW, the Supreme Court of NSW and Court of Appeal. He has also represented clients in the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.

As an adviser on some of the most significant and high profile development projects in Australia, Harshane is recognised for his excellent industry and technical knowledge and his ability to manage large scale and highly complex legal projects.

He is advising Lend Lease on the re-development of the Barangaroo site in Sydney’s CBD. This includes specialist advice on the planning, urban design, environmental and major project approval requirements for this landmark re-development. He is also advising on the necessary applications and development controls, including proposed amendments to State Environmental Planning Policy (Major Development) 2005 for this site.

Harshane has advised on the major re-development of the Star City Casino in Sydney, including the formulation of the major project application and associated planning and development approval requirements.
