Sydney FC new boy Kosta Barbarouses says he feels better than ever after enjoying a rare full pre-season with the club.

Usually away on international duty, Barbarouses believe being with the Sky Blues for the entirety of pre-season is a welcome change and one that will prove him in good stead for the 2019/20 season, declaring he’s ready for Round 1.

“The body feels good, [Head of Strength & Conditioning] Chris Pappas has been fantastic getting us ready,” Barbarouses said.

“It’s an undisrupted pre-season for me, normally I’m away for the first few weeks with the national team.

“It makes a big difference [having a full pre-season]. It’s great that I’ve been able to be here and do all the training with everyone.

“This last month is really important to get the last bits in. We have some good opposition coming up and we’ll be ready for round one.”

Scorer of two goals against a Far North Queensland Football Select XI on Saturday at Barlow Park, Barbarouses praised the pre-season trip overall.

“The camp has been great,” he said.

“We’ve been able to work on a few extra things and the climate has been good getting us ready for the summer league. The game was a good confidence booster, and Cairns has been fantastic.

“The most important thing from the game was getting a good hit out, the boys worked really hard and that’s the most important thing because you have to stay focused and need to prepare well. The team were first class.

“It’s great to score but the most important thing is getting minutes in and getting ready for round one. Goals and confidence counts but just to have the legs and body ready is the main thing.”
