Fresh off the heels of an AFC Champions League clash against star-studded Shanghai SIPG, Sydney FC now turn their attention to this Saturday’s final regular season Hyundai A-League game against Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium.
The Sky Blues have secured second spot on the competition ladder, giving them a week off and a home final, while the Jets will not feature in this year’s Finals Series and will finish their 2018/19 campaign in 7th position.
This week one battle that many will have their eyes on is between attacking midfielders Siem de Jong and Dimitri Petratos. Let’s take a look at the ‘Head to Head’ statistics between two of the stars of this weekend’s clash.

It will be a fierce battle between two of the league’s most creative players, and no doubt both men will be out to stamp their mark on the game.
de Jong leads the way in this battle when it comes to shot accuracy with 32% compared to Petratos who, while he has had more shots, only boasts an accuracy of 24%. Hard to split in assists and goals, despite de Jong playing fewer games, it’s the Dutchman who also has a higher conversion rate and goals per-minute ratio.
This game is a big one for the Sky Blues as they prepare for a push towards another Hyundai A-League title, and de Jong will be one of the most integral players on the park for Head Coach Steve Corica’s men.
