Sydney FC can confirm that Netstrata Jubilee Stadium will host its AFC Champions League matches, following an inspection of the playing surface on Monday.

With concerns held over the quality of the field, Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend, officials from Georges River Council and an independent pitch consultant conducted an assessment of the pitch on Monday, confirming that it is playable and will be ready for Wednesday’s Group H opener against Korea Republic powerhouses Ulsan Hyundai FC.

“The surface is in good condition and has improved substantially over the last few days,” said Townsend.

“We are very happy with the progress that has been made and are looking forward to playing our AFC Champions League match there [against Ulsan Hyundai FC] next Wednesday night.

“A lot of credit has to go to the ground staff for the work they have put in to improving the pitch, and we expect a surface which befits international club football next week.”
