Sydney FC club Captain Alex Brosque has confirmed he’ll remain a Sky Blue for a further season, as revealed on stage at Sydney FC’s night of nights the Sky Blue Ball.
Brosque guided the Sky Blues to an FFA Cup and Premiership double in season 2017/18, following on from his Premiership and Championship successes in 2016/17, as he became the all-time highest capped player for the Sky Blues.
Speaking at The Star Sydney, Brosque said he was committed to the Sky Blues and is looking forward to another season.
“I’m Sydney FC through and through, it’s been a joy to Captain this club through the most successful period in their history and I’m glad I’m here to stay,” he said.
“I’m really excited with the direction we’re heading at the moment, Steve Corica as Head Coach is a fantastic appointment and I know all the players, like me, are eager to play under him and impress.
“We’ve got a fantastic journey ahead of us in season 2018/19, and it’s one I can wait to be a part of.”
Sydney FC Head Coach Steve Corica said he was pleased with Brosque’s commitment.
“Brosquey is at the heart and soul of everything we do and to be able to retain him is crucial moving forward,” Corica said.
“To have him at the club on this journey in 2018/19 is a massive boost and I can’t wait to get started.”
Brosque is the all-time highest capped player for the club with 218 appearances, and the club’s leading all-time goalscorer with 64 goals.
