Sydney FC winger Adrian Mierzejewski has sent a warning to the competition saying he’ll only get better following his #DemolitionDerby showing on Saturday night.
The Polish marquee said he can only list positives from his time with the Sky Blues so far, as he prepares to face the team he made his debut again on Friday night at Allianz Stadium in Melbourne City.
“I feel much better every game,” he said.
“In the beginning I was ok, we won the Quarter Final and beat Melbourne Victory in the A-League but I got injured.
“Now I’m getting better and I expect to play better and better after every training and game
“I’m very happy. Here now is only positives, we won the FFA Cup, we are first in the league, my family is happy, the weather is getting better so only positives and I expect it to be like this until the end.
“It was my first game, in the FFA Cup, against Melbourne City,” he continued.
“They play good football, [but it’s] the leader against third place, I think we should get the job done, if we play our football we will beat them.”
Scorer of the Sky Blues’ 500th Hyundai A-League goal, Mierzejewski said it wasn’t the first time he’d set a record at a club, as he reflected fondly on Saturday’s emphatic victory at ANZ Stadium.
“Lucky me to score the 500th goal for Sydney FC in the A-League,” he said.
“[It’s not my first time,] I scored the 2000th goal for Trabzonspor in the Super Lig so I had this feeling when I scored the goal.
I’m very happy, we did an amazing effort, a very good result [on Saturday],” he continued.
“You can’t win every game five nil so I think it was a great result for our club and the fans, they can celebrate for the next month. Three points, five goals, one more clean sheet, positive.
“I’m very happy with the goals. [They were] my first goals from open play because my other two were from penalties.
“I’m more happy though because we got the three points and for me it doesn’t matter who scored, the clean sheet and three points is the main thing.”
