There were some exceptional performances to kick-off the Hyundai A-League season but who managed to get into the Team of the Week?
See who made the cut in our attack-minded 4-3-3 formation.
KEEPER
Vedran Janjetovic: Wanderers
No one keeper really stood out but Janjetovic was there when Wanderers needed him to keep out Glory.
DEFENCE
Luke Wilkshire: Sydney FC
His assist for the only goal of the Big Blue was class. Playing in an unfamiliar left back role, the veteran showed fabulous energy and quality.
Rhys Williams: Melbourne Victory
Composed, aggressive and a defensive leader. Showed exactly why the Big V courted him with a superb display in the Big Blue.
Raul Llorente: Wanderers
Looks an excellent signing. Attacking mentality, aggressive too. Shone against Glory on Sunday.
MIDFIELD
Tom Hiariej: Mariners
5-1 was a little harsh on the Mariners. Hiariej was one of a number of Mariners who caught the eye in the F3 Derby.
Luke Brattan: Melbourne City
Looks super-fit and lean. Was energetic with his customary excellent passing game in the 2-0 win over Roar.
Roly Bonevacia: Wanderers
From the start he was positive and dangerous. Looks fit and ready for a big season at Wanderland
Adrian Mierzejewski: Sydney FC
Already living up to the pre-season hype of his ability. Provided moments of class in another clinical performance from the Sky Blues.
STRIKERS
Roy O’Donovan: Jets
Couldn’t have scripted his return to Gosford any better. A first-half hat-trick and then two assists after the break. Take a bow Roy!
Andrew Nabbout: Jets
Along with O’Donovan, terrorised the Mariners defence in their big F3 Derby win. His cross for the Jets’ third goal was simply stunning.
Alvaro Cejudo: Wanderers
The Spaniard looks a real player. Was excellent on his Wanderers debut with his no-look pass to set up Riera’s goal a real treat.
MANAGER OF THE ROUND
Ernie Merrick: Jets
The Jets boss couldn’t help but crack a smile after masterminding his side’s crushing derby win over the Mariners. Looks to have instilled a real confidence and belief in his squad, who sit atop the ladder after round 1 for the first time in the club’s history.
