Caceres Joins Select Band Of Sydney FC

Sydney FC midfielder Anthony Caceres has two reasons to celebrate when he walks onto the pitch to face Western United tomorrow night at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium (kick off 7.45pm).

The first will be returning from a foot injury, sustained in the Sydney Derby, which forced him to miss games against Kaya F.C and Perth Glory.

The second is that he brings up his 100th game for the club.

โ€œReally, thatโ€™s a surprise,โ€ said the 100-game Sky Blue when told.  โ€œItโ€™s gone really quickly to be honest, but itโ€™s been the most successful period of my career.

โ€œI feel Iโ€™ve got better and better the longer Iโ€™ve been here and Iโ€™ve still got more to give.โ€

Caceres joins a select bank of 18 players from 188 who have reached the 100 game mark for the club, including the likes of Alex Brosque, David Carney, Matt Jurman and Brett Emerton.

Anthony Caceres joins a select band of Sky Blues to have played 100 times for the club including Andrew Redmayne, Brett Emerton and David Carney.

Current team-mates Alex Wilkinson, Rhyan Grant, Andrew Redmayne, Bobรด, Paulo Retre, Michael Zullo and Milos Ninkovic are also among the 18.

โ€œItโ€™s great to reach 100 but for the time being Iโ€™m just looking at giving some great performances and winning some silverware at the end of the season.

โ€œItโ€™s an real honour to have appeared in 100 games for Sydney FC.โ€

Caceres joined the club from Manchester City in January 2018 and is in the running for the Sky Blues Player of the Year such has been his form during the campaign.

Heโ€™ll get another chance to improve that form tomorrow night following his recovery from a badly bruised foot.

โ€œItโ€™s much better,โ€ he said. โ€œIt was more painful than I thought it was going to be, and it put me out for a couple of games.

โ€œHowever it has given me the chance to freshen up a bit and now I feel at 100 per cent and ready to go.โ€

The Sky Blues come off the back of two consecutive wins and face the joint ladder leaders in Western United who are unbeaten in nine games.
