Promising midfielder, Adam Casey is the latest player to re-commit to the club and he hopes to become a fixture in the first team after agreeing to a new two year deal.
“I think I-ve still got a lot to show,” Casey explained. “Getting more game time under my belt, getting my fitness back, I think you-re going to see a lot more of me.”
Following his strong performance last week against the Melbourne Victory the 22-year-old has retained his place in John Kosmina-s starting side for the meeting with the Mariners and he-s looking forward to tomorrow-s blockbuster.
“We-re confident. We beat Melbourne last week who are doing well so I think there-s no reason not to be confident,” he said. “Obviously it-s a local derby and we always want to beat the Central Coast. Melbourne last week was a massive match, and the Central Coast is almost as massive I think.”
Both Sydney and the Central Coast are coming off last-start wins and tomorrow-s game is shaping up as a crucial encounter, with both teams fighting to improve their positions in the Hyundai A-League top four.
The Sky Blues have some injury concerns with Brendon Santalab out and Rob Middleby in doubt, but Kosmina believes his young guns will rise to the challenge as they did last week against the Victory.
“Last week was easy because you had a whole bunch of new faces with virtually nothing to lose,” he said. “This week they-ve got a reputation, they-ve got to back it up. They wanted to play, they-re here, they-ve got their chance now, so enjoy it.”
Alex Brosque is expected to make his return in place of Santalab, while Shannon Cole is likely to earn a recall to the starting side should Middleby fail to prove his fitness.
Tomorrow-s Hyundai A-League match will kick off at 7pm at the Sydney Football Stadium, after the conclusion of the National Youth League curtain-raiser.
