The Sky Blues shared the points with Canberra United in an even tussle on the road last week, courtesy of a first-half penalty converted by replacement player Jordan Marsh.
After a sluggish opening stanza Sydney finished the game strongly and was unlucky not to claim a late winner, which has given coach Alen Stajcic plenty of confidence heading into this-week-s game against the Glory.
“There were a lot of good signs in the match, it-s pleasing that we finished and played well in the second-half last week,” he said. “Hopefully we-ll carry that form and attitude into this week-s game against Perth.”
His side has had to battle a number of injury concerns over recent weeks, but with some key players set to return on Saturday, Stajcic is optimistic about the remainder of the season.
“We-re still picking up points and we-re sitting at third so as long as we get to the finals I-m sure Sydney will give everyone a bit of trouble.”
Last week Perth threw down a tough challenge to the top-of-the-table Queensland Roar, leading at half-time, but failing to hang on for the full ninety.
Despite their struggles so far this season, the Sky Blues know Perth will come out all guns blazing, and they believe they-re ready to take the Glory.
“They-re a very strong team despite what they-re position suggests but we-re wary and ready,” said Stajcic.
The Westfield W-League clash between Sydney FC and the Perth Glory will get underway at 4:00pm this Saturday afternoon at Parramatta Stadium.
Entry to the round-eight encounter will be free of charge.
