Sydney FC unveils next step towards a new era

Sydney FC has unveilded its new Board of Directors, resulting from the recent change of shareholding within the Club.

Sydney FC has announced its new Board of Directors, resulting from the recent change of shareholding within the Club.

A streamlined board involving a Chairman and three directors, representing the three leading shareholders, will have the responsibility of taking the club to its next stage of development.

Highly respected Sydney businessman, Paul Ramsay, one of the two major shareholders, will head the Board as its Chairman.

Scott Barlow, who represents the interests of former Zenit St Petersburg owner, David Traktovenko, the club-s other joint major shareholder, will become Vice Chairman.

Elliott Rusanow, Group Director, Corporate with the Westfield Group, will continue his role on the Sydney FC board, with Chris Rex, the Managing Director of Ramsay Healthcare, completing the Board.

Since taking majority ownership, Paul Ramsay and David Traktovenko have clearly indicated their commitment to make Sydney FC not only the most successful, respected and recognised football club in Australia, but also a major force in Asian Football.

Highly qualified and successful Czech coach, Vitizslav Lavicka and his equally qualified assistant, Michal Zach, have been appointed to lead the team into the 2009/10 Hyundai A-League campaign, along with co-assistant coach, Tony Popovic.

Slovakian international, Karol Kisel, has recently joined Sydney FC, and the club is looking overseas to strengthen its playing squad during the coming months. Pre-season training has commenced and already the benefits of the new coaching structure are evident.

Commenting on the newly established board, Vice Chairman Scott Barlow, said

“Since becoming majority shareholders, David and Paul have insisted that Sydney FC be provided with the resources necessary to achieve the success that our members and fans deserve. It is important that the club is regarded as being a premium, high quality brand.
