Sydney FC-s championship winning Westfield W-League team could have up to seven representatives in the Westfield Matildas 2010 AFC Women-s Asian Cup team following Head Coach Tom Sermanni-s final squad announcement today.
The six day camp, to be held at Carrara Stadium-s Western Fields facilities on the Gold Coast, will consist of 28 players – including five Sydney FC players.
Key Sky Blues duo Heather Garriock and Sarah Walsh will miss the camp as they are currently playing overseas but will rejoin the squad for the May training camp in final preparation for the AFC Women-s Asian Cup 2010.
Young Sydney FC defender Teigen Allen was rewarded for her outstanding W-League season with selection and will be joined in the camp by fellow Sky Blues teammates Leena Khamis, Kylie Ledbrook, Kyah Simon and Sydney FC Player of the Year Servet Uzunlar.
Assisting Sermanni for the camp will be retired Westfield Matilda Di Alagich who comes into the set-up in the absence of regular assistant coach Robbie Hooker who recently became a father to twins.
The 2010AFC Women-s Asian Cup will run from 19-30 May in Chengdu, China.
Also missing from this camp are senior Westfield Matildas Katie Gill and Lisa De Vanna who are also playing overseas.
