This Father-s Day, Philips will showcase the contribution Australia-s sporting elite make to their families both on and off the field with the Philips Sports Dad of the Year Award.

In its second year, the Philips Sports Dad of the Year will highlight 10 elite athletes across a broad range of sporting fields, giving insights into how they juggle fatherhood with their sporting commitments.

Last year-s inaugural winner was Wests Tigers premiership winning prop John Skandalis who beat a field that included League legends Brett Kimmorley, Steve Price and Wendell Sailor, AFL superstars Matthew Lloyd, Adam Cooney and Michael O-Loughlin, and the Melbourne Victory-s popular goal scoring machine Archie Thompson.

This year-s nominated Sports Dad-s will be profiled on a dedicated website www.sportsdads.com.au which will include questions and answers from the players about their families, as well as comments from the athletes- wives/partners and children.

The website will also include never before seen family photos.

All entrants have the opportunity to win special prizes for their own father this Father-s Day and the winning Philips Sports Dad of the Year will win $5000 to donate to their charity of choice.

This year-s nominees include a Who-s Who of footballers across all four codes.
The NRL representatives trying to emulate Skandalis- win last year include Eels- legend Nathan Hindmarsh, Storm, Queensland and Kangaroos superstar Cameron Smith and New Zealand World Cup winner Sam Perrett.

Representing the AFL-s hopes in the competition are Hawthorn premiership winning captain Sam Mitchell and Sydney Swans popular captain courageous Brett Kirk.

The man who kicked the Socceroos to their first World Cup in 32 years, John Aloisi, will represent football alongside talented Sydney FC signing and former Hyundai A League winner of the goal of the Year Nicky Carle while Wallabies champion Nathan Sharpe, who recently equaled John Eales- record amount of games for Australia as a lock, will carry rugby union-s hopes.

Also nominated is International cycling superstar Robbie McEwen, the first Australian to win the green sprint jersey in the Tour de France; and current V8 Supercar series leader James Courtney.
