Michael Puterflam, a 17-year-old Australian has just finished his HSC exams and is taking on his next challenge – one that will see his name enter the Guinness Book of World Records if he is successful.
Michael Puterflam, a 17-year-old Australian has just finished his HSC exams and is taking on his next challenge – one that will see his name enter the Guinness Book of World Records if he is successful.
Michael will take on the current World Record of the longest consecutive time playing a football video game on the newly released EA SPORTS FIFA 11. The current record is 24 hours, which was set in London in January 2010.
The challenge will take place on Level 6 at Westfield Bondi Junction and will begin at 12noon on Wednesday 1 December 2010, with the record to be broken at 5PM on 2 December 2010 – a total of 29 Hours of straight game play.
On the eve of the announcement of who will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup, gamers can challenge Michael throughout the World Record attempt for a small fee to help support charities close to his heart.
And one of those people will be Sydney FC midfielder Nicky Carle. On Thursday afternoon (4:45pm) Carle will meet Michael in the last hour of his attempt to beat the record and challenge him to a game.
Sydney FC is also getting behind Michael. The Sky Blues are providing him and his team with Sky Blue jerseys for the record attempt, will provide two tickets for its game against Brisbane Roar at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday 12 December for every opponent who beats Michael by two goals or more.
The club will also provide a Sydney FC membership to whoever scores the fastest goal against Michael.
Michael-s inspiration for this attempt is to raise money for the Sony Foundation Children-s Holiday Camps, a camp that supports children with disabilities, Football United, a nationally recognised football charity that works with underprivileged children, providing equipment and training that would otherwise not be available and the Holdsworth Community Centre, a community offering that provides assistance to children with disabilities.
