Sydney FC-s partnership with Unicef has been given a ringing endorsement by the charity-s Global Parents with over six hundred turning up to Saturday-s game with Wellington.
The Parents, who make monthly donations to the Unicef cause, decked out Bay 21 of the Sydney Football Stadium in the colours of Sydney FC and of the organisation.
“It-s a really good cause,” said Global Parent, Ann Reich. “My son Jake and his friend Edan are big soccer fans and players and following Messi I think it-s a good thing to see Sydney FC and Brett Emerton to become and ambassador.
“Hopefully it-ll encourage lots of other people to become Global Parents as well,” she said.
Sydney FC will wear the Unicef name across the front of its shirt for the remainder of the season, along with the names of the Children-s Medical Research Institute and the Sydney Children-s Hospital Foundation.
Ann-s son, Jake said, “Messi is my favourite player. It-s really good to play soccer and it-s really good to help people around the world with Unicef.”
Sydney FC-s partnership with Unicef is one of seven charities and worthy causes the club is supporting, in recognising its significant responsibility to help the local community.
