The Sydney FC Board of Directors would like to make the following Media Statement in relation to recent comments in the media and the formation of Football Australia:
“Sydney FC recognises Football Federation Australia (FFA) as the Governing Body of football in Australia and does not support the creation of a separate body (Football Australia) or the damaging and disparaging statements by Mr Clive Palmer.
Over the last seven years the Sydney FC Shareholders, staff, members and fans have been on a journey along with Football Federation Australia and the other Clubs and Stakeholders that have worked tirelessly to enhance the game of football in Australia and the A-League.
It is our intention to work collectively with the FFA to find solutions to issues and take our game forward.
The timing and nature of these comments and developments have taken away from the fact that crowds, television ratings and membership figures have taken significant steps forward this season and the quality of football continues to improve.”
