If results go the Sky Blues way, Sydney FC can wrap up a playoffs berth with victory against the Phoenix, who have lost in eight of their previous nine visits to Allianz Stadium. However Farina is wary of the threat Wellington pose, as the New Zealanders are still an outside chance of a top six finish.
“This is the first of the finals for us,” Farina said.
“Wellington played pretty well against Adelaide last week so it-s going to be tough, but again we-re playing at home so that is an advantage.
“To have your destiny in your own hands it-s nice, but you still have to take the opportunity and if we can manage to win both games here at home then we-ll be in,” he continued.
“Wellington are still in the mix and they-ll be coming here obviously to try and get the three points but we-ll approach it with a certain game plan to play against them and hopefully it will work.
“They [Wellington] had a great run for a while and then they got a few injuries and got some poor results but they-re still in it with two games to go.”
As the season comes to a close, the Sky Blues injury list has subsided, and Farina revealed he has a full squad to choose from as he highlighted that anything was possible once a club reaches the playoffs stage.
“There are no injuries, Hagi [Gligor] is back and available this week, and pretty much everyone is good to go,” said Farina.
“It-d be great for the club and for the team [to make the finals].
“Most probably the last two years have been a bit lean when it comes to that but to get into the finals and once you get in, it-s two or three games and anything can happen.
“Hopefully we-ll be able to deliver that.”
