Sydney FC will face Melbourne Victory in the first of the Elimination Finals at Etihad Stadium on Good Friday (kick off 7:45pm), in what will be the fourth encounter between the two sides this season.
The Sky Blues booked their place in the finals having finished fifth after they defeated the Perth Glory 2-1 at Allianz Stadium tonight in front of 15,285 fans.
The match looked destined for a draw, and a different finals outcome, before Richard Garcia scored with the final kick of the game to hand the Sky Blues three points and a trip to Victoria on Friday night.
Sky Blues Head Coach Frank Farina said that anything can happen from here on in and wouldn-t draw on past results between the two rivals, but said his squad will be ready regardless of the short turnaround.
“It-s a new ball game,” Farina said.
“The regular season has finished now. It-s just who turns up really next Friday night and who is better prepared and who plays better obviously.
“All the previous form from all the teams really counts for nothing because these games where it-s sudden death, it puts pressure on everyone.
Whoever you-re going to come up against is going to be tough, particularly away from home. It is what it is and we-re ready.”
Tickets go on sale at 9am Monday morning for Members of Sydney FC, 9am Tuesday morning for Members of the FFA Football Family and 9am Wednesday to the general public and can be purchased here.
